Frigga is Odin's Wife. Known as the beloved one, she is a Goddess of home and hearth, marriage, motherhood, and childbirth. She also has the gift of foresight and is said to know the fate of every man. Although she never reveals the fates she knows. The most well known story of Frigga is the story of her Son Baldr's death. She has a vision of Baldr dying. Distraught, she asks every living creature to promise not to harm her son, except the small frail plant mistletoe. Satisfied with her self, she has all the Gods and Goddesses gather to show Baldr is invincible. They all throw spears and arrows at Baldr. Each one bounces off him, leaving him unharmed. Then Loki, the trickster, approaches Hodr, the blind God. "Why are you not joining in the games?" Loki asks. "Because I cannot see where Baldr is." Hodr replies. Loki then says he will help Hodr and directs him where to shoot but he had dressed the arrow tip with mistletoe. When the arrow hits, Baldr falls dead. It is said the entire world wept mourning with Frigga at the loss of her son. That Frigga's tears turned into the white berries that cover mistletoe, symbolizing her love for him. She then made mistletoe swear to never harm a living soul again and from now on it would be seen as a symbol of love. Vowing that every person who passes under the plant, would kiss. Call upon Frigga in matters of the home, fertility, childbirth, motherhood, and marriage.
